Wanted: DINKs for the ultimate challenge - Tough Mudder 2012

Do you ever feel the urge to push your body and mind beyond where you thought it could go? Does swimming through ice cold ponds and scurrying through dark, muddy tunnels with your S.O. sound like your idea of a good time?

Wanted: DINKs for the ultimate challenge - Tough Mudder 2012

How about the opportunity to meet like-minded DINKS from all over the country? You’d better get your game face on because we have an amazing opportunity for you!

The Tough Mudder is a “10-12 mile obstacle course designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie.” The challenge is not timed—through teamwork and determination the mission is to finish the challenge. All proceeds from the race support the Wounded Warrior Project. The challenge is offered in several venues around the world. We have chosen to target the one at Wintergreen Resort in Virginia simply because of the timing (It gives us a little over a year to train—so everyone has time to get themselves in shape for the event).

We are looking for a few good DINKS to join a team. Before you say, “No way! That’s just crazy talk!” Let it simmer for a while. We’re talking about October 6, 2012—that’s over a year away! You have plenty of time to train.

Why a DINK team?

Well, to state the obvious, we’re an awesome bunch of people! But there are other reasons…

• This is not a race to be taken lightly. It will take time and dedication to train, and we have the choice to use our evenings and weekends as we wish.

• It’s a great opportunity to meet like-minded DINKS! Imagine the bonding of sharing a rigorous training experience, talking about it in the Forum, and then making the trip to Virginia for the Tough Mudder in October 2012 and meeting your teammates in person after a year spent training online together.

• DINKS are more willing to take risks. It’s just a fact. I’ve had countless parents tell me, “Now that we have children, we’re just not as willing to take the risks we used to take. What if something happened to us?” That’s not to say this race is death-defying, but it is pretty hardcore.

This is something I would fly in to do (I live in Korea), but it's scheduled in the middle of the university semester. DINK or not, I can't skip work. I really hope I have the chance to do this some day - it sounds like an incredible opportunity for fun and adventure!

Great Jennifer! We hope you can join us!

I think this looks a like a blast! Nic & I have done a Dirty Dash run similar to this and OMG, it was fun....we dressed in costume too, all white to start, for some nice 'before & after' pics. I think we will be up for this! Need to look at our work/life/race calendar for 2012, but that area of the country looks gorgeous & we have not been there before, so would be a fun vacay weekend!

If anyone wants to do it closer to Northern California, my husband and I are in!

Even if you're just thinking about taking on the challenge, please, visit the forum and let us know why you're hesitating (or any other thoughts you're having)!
