Pressed for Time? Try this Quick Workout for Couples

Summer is quickly approaching, which means it's nearly time to model that new bathing suit on the beach in Cabo. The time is now to cut those calories and get in shape.

Pressed for Time? Try this Quick Workout for Couples
Couple working out together

Don’t have a workout buddy? Look to the one with whom you cuddle at night. Exercising together can become an important and stimulating part of a relationship. We all know how easy it is to choose happy hour after work instead of an elliptical. Using your partner as your workout buddy can take your relationship to a new level, where you actually become excited about skipping drinks after work.

Try the workout detailed below. It doesn’t take long, and you’ll love the way you feel afterward.

Start with a warmup like running, walking, or even better a dynamic mobility routine (try Magnificent Mobility) until you get a good sweat going. Typically 10-15 minutes of warmup is sufficient. Working out together, you can help each other with proper form and encouragement during the toughest exercises.

Try the exercise circuit below, doing between 8-12 reps of each exercise. Do the full cycle three times with a minute rest in between. If you feel you can’t handle the last set, get as many reps as you can in each exercise. For the stretches, hold each for 30 seconds.  Your parter can help count out the reps.

  • Squats, Wall Squats with Ball, or Single Leg Squat & Bend
  • Hamstring Stretch
  • Lunges
  • Quad Stretch
  • Pushups
  • Biceps & Shoulder Stretch
  • Parallel bar Dips
  • Triceps Stretch
  • Crunches with Twist or Bicycle Crunches
  • Torso Stretch
  • Back Extension or Superman
  • Plank (Try to hold for 30 seconds)
  • Gluteal & Outer Thigh Stretch

If you’re not sure how to perform any of these exercises, search here to learn more.

As a bonus, when you're done with this quick and effective workout, you'll have the time to top it off with a different type of quickie.

Right on. Works for me...though I'd rather watch her :)

Having the eyes of your significant other on you could definitely motivate you for those final reps...
