While the ideal elements for romance may vary from one DINK two-some to the next, there are attributes common to the most passion-inducing locales that resonate with most of us: beautiful scenery, rich character, relaxed pace, and inspiring food and drink. Travelling to or living in places like this generally isn't cheap, which offers the bonus of minimizing their family-friendliness, making them ripe for an anyday "honeymoon holiday" fit for a DINK.
Make sure the romantic destinations here are on your "to-do for two" list:
The birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, Tuscany is a region rich in architecture, painting and sculpture. Enjoy some of Europe's finest museums and galleries, or simply relax with one of its world-class Chiantis and fall in love with its rolling countryside. Blessed by man and nature alike, it's little wonder the region is a premiere celebrity hot spot.
What not to miss: Plan a day trip to Florence and take in the magnificent Uffizi Gallery, Italy's finest art museum. Built during the 16th century, the Uffizi is home to collections by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo,Raphael, and many other artists that will remind you of watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in your pajamas. While you're in town, take a romantic stroll through the world-renowned Boboli Gardens. Located next to the Pitti Palace, these immaculately tended gardens contain an amazing array of flora as well as a gorgeous view of the city below.
Paradise is waiting. Escape from your everyday routine and jet off to the Bahamas, a stunning 100,000-square-mile archipelago that is home to 700 islands. Explore uninhabited cays and huge rocks, snorkel in some of the world's clearest waters or pass out on the beach with a frozen drink in your hand. The tropical ease will pull you in and the enormous tax benefits might just keep you there forever.
What not to miss: Let your hair down as you enjoy the nightlife the Bahamas are famous for. One spot you'll definitely want to see is the 601 Nightclub. Located in Nassau, this sophisticated destination has a strictly enforced dress code and is known for its aura of mature decadence.
If you're looking to stoke the flames of romance, you can't go wrong with Cyprus, the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite. According to legend, the Greek goddess of love and beauty rose out of the sea from the severed testicles of the god Uranus. Luckily, castration no longer holds rank as a national pastime, meaning that you'll be free to enjoy miles of white-sand beaches as you soak up the sun and fun in one of Europe's most popular hotspots.
What not to miss: Go hand-in-hand to the breathtaking Akamas Peninsula. It is here that Aphrodite is said to have routinely bathed to renew her virginity. Taking a dip in the peninsula's grotto might not turn you back into an "innocent" 14-year-old, but its gorgeous views and pristine water will certainly renew your spirits.
A romantic city with a movie of the same name, a luscious wine region, and more romantic destinations...Continued
Some of my friends had always recommended that Paris and Italy are a very god places to visit. But thanks to you for sharing some more and fresh ones.
I have to say I was a bit surprised to see Czech Republic on the list.
Paris has been at the top of our list for a while. Had never even heard of Cyprus, but it's on the list now!
